Trauma

Trauma by definition is an injury caused by a deeply distressing or disturbing experience. Sometimes that looks like a car accident or having been assaulted. Other times it's the cumulative impact of living with an emotionally immature parent or not feeling emotionally safe to live as your authentic self. No matter what it can certainly feel confusing. Therapy helps to better understand the things you've experienced and find ways to move through the aftermath and live a little bit easier.

Perinatal Mental Health

New parents and parents to be (again) often find themselves feeling alone. We don't talk about how sad or nervous you may feel while you're pregnant. We don't focus on how overwhelmed and tough those first few months are after having a baby, even if it's your second, third or more. And in today's social media driven world you may feel alone or ashamed for not feeling deliriously happy right now.

Feeling worried or sad during or after pregnancy can be normal and often times goes away. But some parents find themselves still feeling sad or nervous for months after their babies are born. The more support you have the better equipped you are to handle it all.

Miscarriage & Abortion

If you're reading this and you've had a miscarriage or needed to terminate a pregnancy then you may be feeling a mix of emotions . 10-25% of pregnancies will end in miscarriage. 1 in 4 birthing persons will have an abortion in their lifetime. You do not have to suffer the grief of a miscarriage or the sadness and relief of abortion alone. Talking to someone about your feelings and experience will help.

Intimate Partner & family violence

1 in 3 women and 1 in 4 men will experience physical violence by a partner during their lifetime. 26-48% of queer identifying persons have experienced violence in their relationships. And so an estimated 10 million children witness domestic violence every year. That violence isn't always physical--emotional, verbal and psychological abuse leave scars too. My goal is to support you in making decisions that feel right for you while keeping you safe. No judgements. You are the expert, I have tools to share.

One time evaluations

I believe the practice of gatekeeping around identity and fertility is harmful and therefore am committed to giving clients access to letters to those seeking gender affirming care and fertility related treatments. If you are in need of a letter in order to move forward in your treatment or care, please contact me to schedule an appointment. Most insurance companies will cover the cost of this appointment and if you are unable to utilize insurance other low cost or free options are absolutely available.

Infertility

The path of trying to conceive can be a lonely one.  Coping with another negative pregnancy test, more hormones and more invasive procedures in what feels like a never ending roller coaster.  I know that trying to get pregnant is more than being able to "just relax."  Whether you're just realizing that it wasn't as easy as you thought or your grieving the idea of what you thought motherhood would look like, I'm here.
I am also available for one time evaluations needed for persons needing letters of recommendation in order to move forward in their fertility journey. These appointments are typically covered by insurance.

EMDR

I offer EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitization Reprocessing) to help desensitize traumatic memories and beliefs to clients interested.
